Carolyn Aleda (Guiler) Christman age 78 passed away on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Carolyn was born on April 9th, 1947 to the late Joseph and Clarice (Danford) Guiler, the youngest of six children. Carolyn spent many years attending the Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church in Summerfield, Ohio and in later years attended Etna Community Church.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her much loved husband, Don Franklin, brothers Eugene and William, and sister Marilyn.

In the seventh grade, Carolyn received a love note from Don F. Christman at Summerfield School-years later they married on December 21, 1963. Don and Carolyn had four children, Ricky Alan (Cheri) of Sussex, New Brunswick, Randy Don (Marsha) of Troy, Missouri, Rhonda Yvonne (George Patterson) Shreve of Byesville, Ohio and Rochelle Leigh Dunn (Tim) of Etna, Ohio. Carolyn and Don have 12 grandchildren- Ricky Jr (Bonnie) Christman, Julia (Reece) Sorley, Andrew (Ashley) Christman, Luke (Rachelle) Christman, Cole (Ally) Christman, Austin (Romy) Christman, Trista Lucas, Macey (Tony) Dingus, Jamie (Karrie) Shreve, Don Franklin “Frankie” Dunn, Samuel Dunn, and Johnathan Dunn and 17 great-grandchildren.

Carolyn worked for many years for Noble Local School District as both a bus driver and a custodian. She made friends wherever she went-Panera, White Feather Farms, CVS, and Dairy Hut. They all wanted to know how Carolyn was doing and all breathed a sigh of relief when she stopped driving. A special thank you to Courtney Barnhart for her loving friendship and help.

Carolyn raised her children to focus on God and faith-often quoting the verse from Joshua- “…As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Throughout her life, Carolyn enjoyed very close relationships with her siblings and their spouses- In particular, her sisters the late Marilyn (Carl) Gessel, Gloria (Dale) Weber and brother Karl (Sally) Guiler. They enjoyed many adventures in Whigville, Ohio-the birthplace of their grandparents-Forest and Minnie Danford-and around the world. Their laughter was infectious and made the many hours of hard work pass quickly.

Much could be written of Carolyn’s earnest love for her children and grandchildren. Carolyn would do anything to make sure they knew they were loved-instilling a fierce work ethic and the belief that with God all things are possible. A tribute to Don and Carolyn’s legacy of love is the close relationships shared by their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

We are left to mourn her passing with the strong knowledge that we will be reunited one day.
