Carolyn Young

Carolyn Fay (Poe) Young, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the Grafton City Hospital in Grafton, WV. Carolyn was born at her family’s home near Grafton, WV on May 25, 1941, the daughter of the late Mary (Jeffers) and Jake Poe.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband William R. “Bill” Young, and her sister Diane Cooper.

Carolyn is survived by her 3 children Janet (Dan) Garcia of Quaker City, OH, Doug (Barb) Young of Grafton, WV, and Gary (Kylie) Young of Kansas; 14 grandchildren Rebekah, Ben, Joel, Matthew, Corrie, Cody, Colton, Clay, Abbigaile, Ethan, Jacob, Hannah, David, and Sophia Young; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 brother David Poe. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carolyn enjoyed gardening, canning and taking care of her animals, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Oak Grove Calvary Chapel Church.

Carolyn graduated from Grafton High School and Fairmont State College. She was a retired teacher. She had worked in several schools in Ohio including Grand Valley, Lordstown, Barnesville, and some vocational schools.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Oak Grove Calvary Chapel, 72371 Freeport Rd, Piedmont, OH 43983, with Pastor Nathan McKeen officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Church Cemetery. Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
