MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Carr Center is preparing for their upcoming 36th Annual Cake Auction, which is themed “Our Bee-loved Community.”

The cake auction is a fundraiser that allows residents, local businesses, organizations and more to decorate a cake that includes incentives and then is auctioned off to raise money for the Carr Center.

Becky Clawson, Executive Director at the Carr Center, said the People’s Choice Award will still be going on this year where participants place their cake on display to be judged on the best cake for each category.

“People’s Choice Award will be voted on Tuesday evening by our volunteers, board, staff and some donors who will actually be involved in that process on Tuesday evening after everything is dropped off on the 26th at Secrest Auditorium,” Clawson stated. “So, make sure to get your stuff there on time and think about what you want to do to take home those awards.”

Clawson said there will be many categories for participants to compete in so if you don’t win one category, there will be a chance to win in another.

All proceeds will be going towards programs within the Carr Center like their adult daycare

“Cake Auction is what enables us to serve our clients here at the car center so if you’ve known a child who has received speech services here or if you’ve known an adult who’s been in our adult daycare or if your child took safety town,” Clawson said. “Those are all programs that benefit from cake auction funds and so we are able to serve those clients here in house. Last year we served over 800 clients and the reason we were able to do that is because of the cake auction.”

Participants can drop off their cake items on April 26th and then for the next two days, the live auction will be held in person at the Secret Auditorium on April 27th and the 28th. The auction will also be streamed live on whiznews.com and air on AM1240 and 102.3 FM.

Clawson said the money raised for the event really helps them do the work they love to do everyday and is hoping for a great turnout this year.
