MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Despite not having the Carr Center Cake Auction in-person this year, the virtual event was successful.

The 35th annual cake auction raised over $102,000 in two days with the help of the generous community, bakers and sponsors.

“The American Ear cake was the highest one. She donated actually two of those entries and they both went for a significant amount of money. It came with a hearing aid so what a wonderful thing to put in the cake auction and is truly going to help someone and it helped us. What a great thing to do,” Carr Center Executive Director Becky Clawson said.

The money raised will be spread out through the year in the Carr Centers operations. The funds cover a quarter of the Carr Centers operating budget.

“It supports our three major cornerstone programs, which would be toddler enrichment and speech therapy, adult daycare program and remote learning. It will also support Safety Town and Special Riders and Equipment Loan as well,” Clawson said.

The Carr Center is currently in the middle of analyzing the event overall as well as planning the event for next year.

Clawson thanked everyone who supported this year’s cake auction, including the Carr Centers partnerships with the Muskingum County Community Foundation, Straker Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Zanesville, and the Animal Shelter Society.
