Center for Seniors looking for new building

The Muskingum County Center for Seniors is getting closer to constructing a new building.

Terry Dunn and other representatives from the center along with architect Brian Addis met with the county commissioners Monday to present a contract for a construction manager.

The center is looking to move its building out near the advanced science and technology center at Zane State and needs to iron out some of the details.

"That’s exactly why we need the construction manager," said Dunn. "They will fill in all of those voids and those unknowns that we need, and every piece that’s filled in and the puzzle will start to define the amount of revenue that we need to build the facility."

The center set a deadline of November 7 for the commissioners to sign the contract. They need that to start doing the work necessary to determine the price of the project. Dunn is very excited to be seeing this come to fruition.

"It seems like a long long journey and the light’s starting to get a little bit brighter," said Dunn.

Once the milage is set on the project the center for seniors will finalize the terms for a levy on the May ballot.
