Chadwick Watiker – Air Force, Captain, 2001-2004

Chad worked in the healthcare field since 1998. Prior to his hire at the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2008; he worked for a small private practice and mental health center. Chad’s experience in the military was primarily in healthcare administration. Chad held credentials in mental health operations and command. He had worked at all levels of the patient care and administration.

He was responsible for outreach and training on family maltreatment and mental health. Chad plan, direct, and implement base commander Family Advocacy Program. Oversaw the identification, management, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of 593 Family Advocacy cases. An advisor for prevention marketing program, which resulted in exhaustive efforts of outreach to 4,764 beneficiaries. Received a perfect clinical score in 2004 by the Joint Committee on Accreditation of Health Care Organization, which was acknowledge our program as an “Outstanding Program” that exceeds Air Force Standards.

He was described by his Commander as a natural leader and recognized by the United State Air Force with astute clinical skills in high profile Critical Incident debriefing 54 personnel responding to Air plane mishap. He has served on multiple agency board during his career.

Chad has been instrumental organizer for number community events, and appointed as Chief of the Social Work Boarding for the Vet Center. He directed all phases of a Federal-funded program providing direct supervision to nurses, managers, and administrative support. Worked collaboratively with physicians, law enforcement health and human services to ensure compliance and quality patient care. He followed legislation through the process from a bill to the president signing it into the law, to VHA directives
Represented the Department of Veteran Affairs and Veteran Health Administration as a witness during the September 9, 2013, House Committee on Veteran Affairs hearing.

Today, Chad retired, continue his work with veterans of all eras through his volunteer partnership with the Columbus VA, stakeholders, and as a Board Member for the Buckeye Chapter for Paralyzed Veterans, (BPVA) of America. He not only serves for BPVA, he too is a veteran athelete that has medal at the National Veteran Wheel Chair Games in various sport events, such as swimming, billiards, and ping pong.

His family is proud of his multiple accomplishments through out his military and veteran career. He often reminds us that he continues to embrace the Core Values of the Air Force, Integrity, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do!
