ZANESVILLE, Ohio- You’ve heard about the new tax reform and now local businesses are questioning how the change will affect them.

To answer those questions the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce will host a tax reform seminar with local accounting firm McLain, Hill Rugg & Associates, Inc. to explain how new deductions could leave some businesses with more money.

“All kinds of conversations [are] going on out there, this is a chance for local businesses to hear from local experts on tax reform, tax cuts and how it will affect their business,” said Dana Matz, chamber president.

The seminar will take place Tuesday, January 30th at 4 p.m. at the Welcome Center. This is the largest change in the federal corporate tax rate since 1986 and Matz said businesses should make sure they are ready.

“You know general conversation on when the last big tax cuts changes were, overall or sweeping changes, would lead back to the Reagan administration. So we have a different generation of business leaders in our community now so this is a major thing and they need to be prepared,” said Matz.

If you’re interested in attending the seminar you can contact Ashley Umstott at the chamber at (740) 455-8282.
