Chamber of Commerce Holds Summer Golf Outing

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The annual Chamber Summer Golf Outing took place at the Zanesville Jaycee Public Golf course today.  

Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce President Dana Matz explained that the event serves more functions than just providing simple recreation. 

“For well over 25 years, the Chamber of Commerce has been bringing Chamber Members together to golf,” Matz said. “So great opportunity for our businesses to network and the Chamber Businesses use it in different ways. Sometimes it’s a reward for their employees, sometimes it’s a reward for bringing their clients out. But overall, we’re doing introductions while these people are here. Like hey, who’s this company, we’d like to meet them. And just did an introduction with a service provider working with one of our sponsors. So that’s what we do and that’s why we do it.”

Muskingum County has multiple golf courses that are affiliated with the Chamber, so the Chamber has multiple locations to host their late spring and late summer golf outings. 

“We serve businesses of all sizes, both small and large. 85 percent of our members are 10 employees or less businesses,” Matz said. “And we do all kinds of things. We do multiple networking opportunities, whether it’s a morning coffee, an afterwork gathering or a golf outing; but we do training… We have training opportunities. So every month we have multiple opportunities to train… whether it’s upper management, entry level employees, we do all kinds of different training.”

Matz noted that the outing wasn’t a tournament per se, but there were smaller contingency competitions that offered small rewards, like gift cards from its member businesses, for the winning contestants.
