Chandlersville Trailer Fire

A fire in Chandlersville leaves one family’s home severely smoke damaged.

It happened at 8980 McDonald Road. Wayne Township Assistant Fire Chief Steve Farus says the cause is unknown.

“We were called to the fire here and it was fully involved and a lot of smoke damage,” said Farus. “We got it down to a specific corner of the living room.”

“I was here,” said Dora Warne, daughter of the owner. “I came down and all day we’ve been smelling this smoke. We thought someone was burning something, so we didn’t think anything. I went up to the store to get a pop, and when I circled around the building, it was on fire.”

Warne says although she was shocked about the fire, she was most worried about getting her family out.

“My first thought was to get everybody out, find mom and the animals,” she said. “I had my grandson here, just trying to get everyone out of the way because it was full of oxygen.”

Warne says the home belongs to her parents Charles and Sara Roberts, one of which uses the oxygen tanks. She says the tanks were a concern, but didn’t cause any harm to the home.
