Charitable University Coming to Zanesville
ZANESVILLE, OH – A program through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office is coming to our area this week.
Charitable University is a program offered through the Attorney General’s Office for nonprofits looking to better themselves, both financially and within the community.
Amy Luby, the Resource Development Officer with the Muskingum County Community Foundation said typically these programs take place in Columbus, but these two sessions will be happening right here in Zanesville.
“Instead of sending our folks to Columbus, we asked them if they would be willing to come to Muskingum County and do a session and they’ve actually agreed to do two sessions for us,” Luby said. “This Thursday, September 19th, everyone can choose the session that works best for them, there’s one from 9AM to 12PM and one from 3PM to 6PM and it’s going to be held at the Muskingum County Welcome Center.”
Luby said the Charitable University program isn’t just for the leaders of these nonprofit organizations but also their staff and volunteers.
She said they’ll cover topics like the best practices, board governance, financial planning, fundraising and much more.
“I think it’s going to be a really great opportunity for folks that are involved with nonprofit organizations to attend, A. it’s free! So that’s always a good thing,” Luby said. “They will get some very valuable learning, a chance to network with other nonprofit organizations in our County and really get what those basic skills are, under their belt to be an effective board member or nonprofit leader.”
