Charles Harmon

Charles (Charlie) F. Harmon, passed away at The Oaks on Northpointe on February 3, 2024, in Zanesville, Ohio at the age of 80.
Charlie was born on December 11, 1943, in Zanesville, OH. He graduated from Philo High School in 1962, joining the Navy right out of High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966, as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. After the Navy he began working at the Ohio Power Plant, in Philo Ohio. After the Philo Plant closed, he was transferred to the Cardinal Plant, in Brillant, OH till he retired and returned to Duncan Falls.
Charlie enjoyed his fishing trips and his fishing buddies. When you met him for the first time, he was sure to ask you what your name was and where you were from, and then 50 other questions until he figured out if he knew someone in your family. Charlie was an exceptional cook and was always sending meals home with his children, extended family and numerous friends. Many people will be especially missing his homemade hot mustard. He had been an active and dedicated lifelong member of the American Legion and loved his football games and Nascar races.
Charlie is survived by his children, Saylor (Jason) Helsel of Hopewell, OH, Allen (Crystal) Harmon of Heath, OH, Jamie (Josh) McCormick of Blue Rock, OH., grandchildren, Morgan (Isaac) Edwards, Reagan (Hunter Foster) Embry, December (Patrick Sheets) Embrey, Kayla (Robbie) Northrup, Camryn Harmon, Jordan Harmon, Gracie McCormick, great grandchildren, Wade Edwards and Benson Foster, sisters, Jeannette Hennesey, and Debbie (Jim) Irwin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Mildred (Pickenpaugh) Harmon of Duncan Falls, brothers Tom and Gary Harmon, sisters Nellie Christman and Ruthie Baker, and very special niece Dawn Christman.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Charlie was passionate about St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, so please donate to St.Jude’s in honor of him. The family would like to thank The Oaks on Northpointe and Genesis Hospice for their father’s care.
