Charles Henry Sode, better known as Charlie, was a lifetime resident of Perry County, a place he was always proud to call home. He was born on January 2, 1976, and passed on July 1, 2024, at OSU Hospital.

Charlie was survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Dee Sode, his treasured son, Dakota (Madi) Sode, and new and deeply adored grandson, Baylor Austin Sode. In addition, Charlie is survived by his three sisters: Charlene (Todd) Spence, Christine (John) Loughman, Tracy (Kelly) Morrow and many nieces and nephews.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lore Sode, and his beloved son, Austin Sode, whom he dreamed of reuniting with one day.

Charlie enjoyed many things: hunting, throwing darts, supporting the Buckeyes, maintaining the position of “#1 Raiders Fan,” hosting parties at The Sode Barn with his wife for their one-million friends, playing baseball, and coaching his two sons throughout their own baseball years.

As a good friend put it, “Those who knew Charlie, knew he had a larger than life personality that drew people to him. He had a certain type of charm and charisma that can’t be bought, taught, or learned. It’s a type of personality that is only given to a select few, directly from God. Charlie didn’t just bring the fun, he was the fun. If smiles, belly laughs and good times were currency, Charlie was the richest person I’ve ever known. He was truly a one of a kind character. Charlie, thank you for all the hilarious antics, endless laughs, and great times.”

In lieu of flowers, consider spending some of your own “good time currency” this week: drive a backroad with a friend while blasting some good music, share some of your favorite stories with family until your stomach hurts from belly laughing, celebrate something just because you can, or maybe just dust off your baseball glove and play a round of catch in the front yard with your boy.

Family and friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday July 5, 2024, at the Sode Barn 10965 Zartman Road Thornville, Oh 43076. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m.
Interment: Thornville Lutheran Reformed Cemetery.
Following the graveside family and friends are invited back to the Sode Barn.
