Charles W. “Chuck” Butcher (September 1, 1925 – March 10, 2012)

Charles “Chuck” W. Butcher, 86, of Byesville, died at 7:40 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at his home. He was born in Fairmont, West Virginia, on September 1, 1925, to the late Ira and Minnie Austin Butcher. He worked on the B & O Railroad and retired from Essex Wire. Charles also attended Calvary Baptist Church in Byesville and Word of Life in Zanesville. Charles enjoyed woodworking, crafts, playing Bingo, going to the Senior Center and putting puzzles together. He was a happy go-lucky guy who loved making people laugh.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Alice Reed Butcher, whom he married September 20, 1986; and five children, Charles E. Butcher and Randy L. Butcher, both of Zanesville, Judy (Edwin) Meanor of Byesvillle, Joseph (Cristian) Arbuckle of Byesville and Louelle (John) Kinder of Zanesville; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and caregivers, Cindy Bebout and Bridgette Hamilton. He also leaves behind many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Glosser Butcher; his second wife, Louella Lagrange Butcher; a daughter, Sharma Gillenwater; four brothers, Arley, Ted, Carl and Earl Butcher; and a sister, Marie.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 with Pastor John Sensabaugh and Pastor Dennis Rost officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
