Chase Ends In Licking County

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office said one person was placed under arrest following a high-speed chase that ended in Licking County.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz reported that shortly before 9pm an off duty Zanesville Police Officer spotted a vehicle that was associated with a known felony warrant out of Hocking County on State Route 146 near Dillon State Park.

Lutz said being alone and knowing the warrant included a weapon, the officer contacted the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office. When deputies arrived the vehicle took off leading deputies at high speeds on State Route 146 east and into the western part of Zanesville.

The pursuit continued on US 40 west out of town and ended when the vehicle pulled over on US 40 at State Route 668 in Licking County.

Sheriff Lutz said the suspect didn’t resist arrest and was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the vehicle the sheriff said they found ammunition, but no weapon.

He’s currently being held in the Muskingum County Jail, but will face an extradition hearing to be sent to Hocking County to face charges there for felonious assault. The sheriff said he could also face charges in Muskingum County.
