Cheetah Cubs Born At Wilds

Cheetahs have been born at the Wild’s Animal Preserve for the first time in the conservation center’s history. The first litter, on October 20th, features two males and one female that survived and two cubs were stillborn. Wild’s staff monitoring the female by video observed five year old “Kenji” leaving the cubs shortly after they were born and could see that one of the cubs was still wet and weaker. Because the mother showed no interest in returning to the three cubs, the decision was made to hand-rear them. There was a second litter of four cubs born eight days later on October 28th. One cub was stillborn and the remaining three cubs are currently being cared for by five year old “Kamaria.” This weekend is the last opportunity for visitors to experience the Wilds during the 2010 regular season. The Conservation Center is located in Muskingum County. The cubs will not be on display
