Chickens Killed in Barn Fire
An afternoon fire destroys a barn, damages a dog groomer’s business and almost spreads to a nearby home.
Crews from four fire departments were called to 3890 Dillon Falls road around 3 o’clock this afternoon.
Homeowner Forest Guss says by the time they realized their barn was on fire it was already too late.
“I was down the basement and my wife looked out the back window of the house, of the door, and she said his barn was on fire,” he says. “It was burning pretty good when you can see it coming out that big door down there.”
Guss tried to save his rooster and 11 chickens in the barn, but it was already burning too hot.
The fire destroyed the barn, plus a van and farm equipment inside. Their pool deck and siding were also burnt.
The neighboring dog groomer’s business suffered damage to the back of their building.
Falls Township fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
