Chief Coury: Murder-Suicide Investigated on Spangler Drive

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Police Department has updates in connection to the shooting incident Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 7 p.m., ZPD received a call of shooting on 479 Spangler Drive. Chief Coury said two people were shot. Russel Flemming was discovered dead by Officers, and his wife, Hilda Flemming, was transported to Genesis Hospital for her injuries. Chief Coury said ZPD is labeling the incident a domestic situation that resulted in an attempted murder-suicide.
“We believe that the deceased male, Russel Flemming, shot his wife, Hilda Flemming. Hilda right now is still alive to our knowledge. She is at Genesis Hospital,” he said.
The cause of the dispute and the case remains under investigation.
