Christ’s Table Canister Campaign
Friday and Saturday marks the annual fall Canister Campaign for Christ’s Table.
In efforts to stock the shelves for winter months and fund those upcoming high heating bills, hundreds of volunteers will be at local grocery stores from 10 a.m-6 p.m including both Walmart locations, north, south and New Concord Riesbeck’s, Sam’s Club, Kmart south, and Duncan Falls Campbell’s collecting monetary donations as well as canned goods.
“It literally takes hundreds that find it in their hearts to take a couple hours on Friday or Saturday to come out and help Christ’s table. So we really wanna thank our volunteers. We wanna thank the stores, We’ll be at all the local stores and we wanna thank them for volunteering their places for us to come out” said Executive Director at Christ’s Table, Keely Warden.
Its a great opportunity for a group or students who need community service time and because they go into more stores, the fall campaign is the largest of the year. Last year they raised over $12,000 so they’re really excited for this year’s potential Warden explained.
“Seeing who we serve here at Christ’s Table, pulls on the heart strings knowing that we’re family here to those that we serve and it’s important for them to have a warm place to come in the winter. It’s important to us to serve them a hot, nutritious meal Monday through Saturday. So, it’s important for us to do this and more importantly it’s important to those that we serve” she later told us.
If you’d like to get involved there are still a few slots open at some of the stores just call Christ’s Table at 740-452-9766.
