Christ’s Table Canister Drive

If you have a couple of extra hours to spare this weekend, Christ’s Table is seeking volunteers for their Bi-Annual Canister Drive.

Twice a year Christ’s Table asks for help from the community in providing funding to serve hot meals to help feed the hungry. The Canister Drive will be held this Friday and Saturday, October 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at local stores. The volunteers will be asked to greet people outside of these stores with canisters. Executive Director of Christ’s Table, Keely Warden said:

"At this point we need volunteers to help us do that. So, if you’re interested in giving a couple hours of your time to help we would certainly appreciate it."

Within the last few months, the number of meals Christ’s Table has served to the hungry has been on the rise. Warden stresses that help from the community is needed because of this growth.

"From April until September we were over 10,000 meals each month, that puts us at about 10% over last year at this time. So the need is there, we really need this canister drive to help us support the meals that we do each year and we just need people to come out and support us and people to come out and help us."
