Christ’s Table Celebrates Good Friday with An Early Easter Dinner
Over 500 families and members of the community were able to enjoy a very special dinner Friday.
Christ’s Table is a place where everyone is welcome to get a hot holiday meal, including Easter dinner. Friday, each child received an Easter basket with toys in addition to the Easter dinner. Executive Director Keely Warden said it’s a blessing to have community members partner together to make this dinner special.
"We were so blessed Eastside Community Ministry partnered with us. They did the little treats for the adults. We had Foxfire coloring eggs for us. We have a volunteer downstairs that made chocolate suckers for all of the kids. We had so high school students that came in and put Easter egg baskets together for us," said Warden.
Among those volunteering to help make this dinner a success were criminal justice students from Zane State College, who pitched in by serving the families. Instructor, April Cohagen-Gibson said this is a powerful message for the students to understand how to give back.
"It’s so very important for these students to understand every walk of life. The things that they are learning here today at Christ’s Table, there’s no way in the world that I can teach them this in the classroom," said Cohagen- Gibson, Adjunct Instructor: Zane State College, Criminal Justice.
Christ’s Table will be closed Easter Sunday and will back open to serve meals on Monday morning at 11 a.m.
