Christ’s Table In Need Of Donations
Due to cold weather and school closings Christ’s Table needs your help now more than ever.
Typically in January and February, the number of people who visit Christ’s Table is low due to the weather. However, because of school closings they are seeing more families coming in at lunch time for hot meals.
“This is the time of the year where our shelves start to get bare, we can’t let them be bare, so we have to start purchasing. When we have to start purchasing it hurts the budget and we get a little nervous when we have to start spending money because I don’t think the community realizes that our food cost is about 32 cents per meal and it is that low because of donations. So when people aren’t donating the price per meal starts to go up,” said Christ’s Table Executive Director, Keely Warden.
Right now, Christ’s Table is in need of canned fruits and vegetable and are asking for your help during these cold months.
“Right now North Side Pharmacy has stepped up and they have taken a few weeks to help out Christ Table, and they have been doing a food drive at all of their pharmacy’s. We were so happy when we got the call because like i said, this is the time of the year where our shelves start to get bare,” said Warden.
