Christ’s Table in need of summer volunteers

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — When the temperatures go up, so do meal counts at Christ’s Table in Zanesville.
Christ’s Table is looking for extra volunteers during the summer months as their meal counts increase. There are opportunities in the kitchen, and with in-home deliveries– both of which are great opportunities for families to take part in together.
“We need volunteers here at Christ’s Table in the summer. Our need goes up about 25%, our meal count goes up 25%. We have been booming since school has been out, which is a great thing, but that also sometimes leaves us a little shorthanded volunteer wise,” said Executive Director Keely Warden. “It’s a great opportunity for families to go out together. Mom or Dad can drive, and the kids can run the meals. It takes about an hour a day,” she adds.
Warden also says that many people think that winter time is their busy season because of the cold weather, but with school out, they see a big increase in the number of families coming in for meals.
“A lot of people think that winter is our busy time, because it’s cold and that’s really just an old urban legend. Our busy time is the summer time because the kids are out of school and the ones and twos– the moms, and dads– that we see in the winter time turn into fives and six in the summer when people are bringing their families here to eat,” Warden explains.
