Christ’s Table Receives Generous Turkey Donation

Christ’s Table received a very generous turkey donation Monday evening.

For over 20 years now, the National Wild Turkey Federation has held the Y-Bridge Longbeards Turkey Fundraiser. Brittany Burkhart, Chairperson for the fundraiser and Secretary for the organization, told us a little bit about what goes in to collecting the funds.

"We just go to local businesses and we ask for any money donations we can get. It’s kind of a really hard time of year to get people to do donations so we’re really grateful for everything we get but. We get any money donations and 100% of the profits go towards purchasing these turkeys to donate."

$820 was raised this year, which significantly surpassed last years total. Burkhart shared why this fundraiser is valued by their organization.

"Well us being the National Wild Turkey Federation we kind of just think it’s kind of fitting to donate turkeys and around holiday season Christ’s Table really needs the donations so we take it upon our group as individuals to go out and try to get as much as we can to help."

34 turkeys were bought and donated to Christ’s Table. That totaled 668 pounds of food.
