Clarence Crooks

Clarence E. Crooks, 89, of Crooksville, passed away peacefully at his residence in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 15, 2024. Born on April 6, 1935, in Morgan County, to the late Clarence M. and Adryenne (Bobb) Crooks, his life was one of dedication to his family, his work, and his various interests that left a lasting impact on those that he encountered. Clarence, known affectionately by those around him simply as “Crooksy”, was the beloved patriarch of his close-knit family. He was a loving father to his children, Richard “Rick” ( Rosa Jones) Crooks, Diana Hand, and Alice ( Chris “Canada” )Parks, and a treasured grandfather to several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. Clarence’s life was further enriched by his faithful canine companion, Willie, renowned for his impressive leaps and keen intelligence. For 43 years, Clarence honed his craft as a skilled mold maker at the Ferro Corp. (CESCO), where his work never went unnoticed. His leadership abilities shone through as he served as president of the Hull Pottery Association for over 30 plus years, an organization close to his heart. Clarence was instrumental in the Crooksville-Roseville Pottery Festival, where he organized the yearly Hull Pottery Convention, an event that drew enthusiasts from near and far. His commitment to his community was further demonstrated through his active involvement in The Knights of the Pythias and his status as a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Clarence’s interests were as vast as the great outdoors he so loved. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found excitement and joy in the pursuit of big game and the tranquility of fishing. His passion for the land was evident in his work as a farmer, where he dedicated himself to cultivating his land with care and purpose. Clarence was a staunch conservationist, supporting his local and statewide Conservation and Agriculture (Con-Ag) departments. His vision for the future was rooted in his belief in the importance of planting trees and utilizing land for the betterment of generations to come. Preceding him in death were his parents, Clarence M. and Adrienne (Bobb) Crooks, his son Mark Crooks, and his sisters Mildred Sheets, Mabel Grant, Georgianna McNeal and Wilma Jean Wilson. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday June 21, 2024, from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, where family and friends are invited to stop by and share memories, stories and offer condolences to the Crooks Family.
