CLARENCE EARNEST COEN, 81, of Zanesville, passed away October 15, 2011 at the Morrison House (Hospice) following a courageous battle with Lung Cancer.

Clarence was born October 1, 1930 in Smithfield, WV., the son of the late Okey Coen and Julia Rueckert. He was the husband of Sally (Brearley) Coen, happy together for 47 years. Clarence was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He retired from the Ohio Ferro Alloy in Philo after 31 years and worked for Midwest Portland Cement for 7 years. Clarence was a past member and Assistant Fire Chief for the Perry Township Fire Department. He served his country in the US Army as an Airplane Welder during the Korean War. His hobbies included bowling, golfing, gardening, vacationing in Myrtle Beach, and hosting his annual Hog Roast with friends and family. He epecially enjoyed spending Tuesday afternoons with his good friends, Tommy, Ab and Jack.

In addition to his wife Sally he will be missed by his children and grandchildren. His daughters Kim Abel (Gary), Kristy Weber (Steve), Tina Davy (Richard), his sons Tim Coen (Yvette) and Dave Coen (Theresa). Grandchildren, Brian Haren (Dawn & Jensen), Mindy Wharff (Greg), Nathan Haren (Kaylie), Josh Abel (Sara), Nickolas and Jordan Weber, Tyler Coen, Brooke Davy, and great grandson Gunner Abel.

Clarence is also survived by his brothers H. Vern (Ellen) Coen, David W. (Pam) Coen, Keith (Loretta) Rueckert and his sister Beverly J. Coen.

In addition to his parents Clarence is preceded in death by his Stepmother Mildred Coen, brothers Allen Coen, Edward Coen, Glenn Coen, LeRoy Coen, Robert Rueckert, Shirl Coen and Thomas Coen.

Clarence will also be missed by his in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and relatives.

No calling hours will be held. A family gathering will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22nd at 12:30 p.m. at the Coen residence. A private family service will be held at a later date at St. Paul Cemetery. THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE has the distinct honor of serving the Coen family. In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial contributions be donated to the Morrison House (Hospice) – Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio.
