ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Fall has arrived overnight and as temperatures continue to drop it will soon be time to dig out the winter coats.

The Salvation Army in Zanesville is helping the community get ready for the cold weather ahead by having their annual Coats for Kids day. President of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Susan Stotts said they are looking forward to handout out the coats.

“So we get to deal with the children and being able to give them something they need and that they want is just so rewarding,” said Stotts.

Stotts said its so much fun watching the kids try on coats and knowing that they are getting something they need. She said they do shop all year, but they also accept donations of new or gently used coats.

“And having a new coat just makes you feel good,” said Stotts. “So it’s really important for the families and for the general health.”

Stotts said Coats for Kids will be held October 18th and 19th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army and that coats are for kids from newborn to 12th grade. She said to be sure to bring a picture ID for the program along with Social Security cards for everyone in your household.
