Coconis Furniture and Genesis Team Up for Free Mammograms

ZANESVILLE, OH – Tomorrow kicks off the month of pink, and one local partnership is making lifesaving screenings easier to access.

Coconis Furniture is once again teaming up with Genesis Healthcare System, OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center, and Licking Memorial Health Systems to offer free mammograms. The screenings are available to women who are uninsured, underinsured, or unable to afford the cost.

“We’ve really made a difference here in the community partnering with Genesis. It’s very important. Early detection saves lives. When you get detected early, there’s a 99% success rate in getting things corrected. So, it’s really important to get these free mammograms and we’re excited to partner with Genesis for the month of October to make sure that there’s no one that cannot get a mammogram if they need one.” Bo Coconis, Owner of Coconis Furniture, said.

Vouchers can be picked up at Coconis Furniture or any of the participating hospitals through the end of October. Those vouchers can be used to schedule a screening through the end of the year.

“We’ve been doing this for 7 years and we’ve been able to find early-stage breast cancer because of this program. We’ve been able to not only help people get mammograms that can otherwise not afford it but also raise awareness. There’s some people who have insurance and they just never thought to go get their mammogram.” Pebbles Kieber, Director of Cancer Services, said.

For the last 7 years, Coconis Furniture has helped provide hundreds of free mammograms to women in the community.
