College Drive Presbyterian Church Receives Donation

One area church received a very generous donation, just in time for the holidays.

The Zanesville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol partnered with the New Concord Police Department and Riesbeck’s and held a food drive last Friday to benefit the College Drive Presbyterian Church. Rev. Anne Weirich said it was a huge success.

“Last Friday we had a wonderful donation from SGT. Melanie Appleman and Chief Hayes from the New Concord Police Department. The got the idea of asking Riesbeck’s Grocery if they would help them raise some money and also some donations for the food pantry here in new concord,” said Rev. Weirich.

The goal for the fundraiser was to collect 200 pounds of food and they exceeded that amount with nearly 15 hundred pounds of food, In addition to cash donations.

“This time of the year I think people are going to receive wonderful gifts, from one another. I think that always puts us in mind of the fact that it’s not just about receiving; the benefit of being able to live in a privileged time, place and circumstance to receive gifts but, I think probably what god wants us to do with the things that we have extra is give them away,” said Rev. Weirich.

If you would like to make a donation you can contact them at 740-826-4036.
