College Night 2018
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- For over 10 years, The Muskingum County Community Foundation, Scholarship Central has hosted an annual event to help prepare students for college.
In March, Scholarship Central will put on “College Night” at O.U. Zanesville and Zane State college campus. This gives students grades grades 7-12 an opportunity to learn more about preparations for the college transition.
“College night will take place on March 15th from 6:00 P.M- 8:30 P.M over at Zane State O.U. Zanesville campus center. It will be a fun filled night from 6:00 P.M to 8:30 P.M talking about A.C.T. and entrance exams, anything college pretty much. Choosing the right college, understanding financial aid and things like that. There’s going to be a bunch of different sessions that people can attend,” said Stevey Willey, Ohio College Guide.
With the knowledge that most students in the community are first generation college students, Willey says the goal is to make the transition smoother for students.
“Especially around here, we have a lot of first gen students so they don’t really know what’s going on and how to kind of navigate this college process. For some whose parents have gone to college, a lot of things have changed especially for F.A.F.S.A., things have drastically changed even in the past 2 years. There will be a drawing for a $250 scholarship as long as the student attends the whole time they will be eligible. We have multiple scholarships to give out throughout the night,” said Willey.
Willey also expressed they are still in need of sponsors to donate funds to the scholarship pool. All you must do is send your money to The Muskingum County Community Foundation by March 1st and the funds will be received.
