ZANESVILLE, OH – September is Hunger Action Month, and Columbia Gas of Ohio is rolling up their sleeves to help neighbors in need.

The company is once again supporting hunger-focused nonprofits across the state. Columbia Gas team members are spending the month serving meals, handing out food, and packing boxes with groups like the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, Connecting Kids to Meals, the Springfield Soup Kitchen, Feeding Medina County, and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

“The goal of this campaign is to raise awareness for food insecurity across the state. We want to help people meet their basic needs. Putting food on families’ tables is really important to us.” Erica Chronaberry, Director of Communications for the Columbia Gas of Ohio, said.

Columbia Gas says food is only one of life’s essentials. Another is keeping your home warm when the temperatures drop. If you’re struggling with your gas bill, Columbia Gas encourages customers to reach out for assistance.

“Like I said, we’re trying to help our customers meet basic needs, that’s why we’re supporting Hunger Action Month. But another basic need is heating your home, especially during the colder months that are quickly approaching. We just ask our customers, if you are struggling to pay your natural gas bill, please reach out to us. We can’t help if we don’t know that you need help. So, reach out to us as soon as you think you might have an issue or you might be struggling, and we can certainly connect you to programs, budget plans, and other organizations throughout the state that can help you with that.” Chronaberry said.
