Columbia Gas of Ohio will have lower gas prices

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- People with Columbia Gas of Ohio will see lower prices on their bill this March as compared to the last few months.
March will be warmer than January and February causing consumers to need to turn the heat on less often and not have it running nearly as often. Communications Manager Dave Rau said customers with Standard Choice Offer will have bills about 20 percent less.
“We’ve had some nice warm weather here in February heading into March and that’s really brought the market price of natural gas down. So, we’re happy to see that customers will be saving,” said Rau.
Rau said the current federal tax reform will also result in savings by Columbia gas being able to lower tax fees on customers since the company is paying fewer taxes. He said the lower taxes will also make the repair and replacement cost on bills lower than originally expected.
“Our Infrastructure replacement Program, you’ve probably seen them in a neighborhood near you. We’re out replacing gas lines, we’re replacing our mains out in the street. We’re replacing service lines that go up to homes. That’s very important, the lines that we’re replacing have been in the ground for a long time,” said Rau.
Rau said the company will be investing more than $200 million in safety and reliability improvements.
