Columbus Man Charged in Smiling Goat Shooting

A Columbus man accused of firing a shot at the door of the Smiling Goat has been officially charged. 

39-year-old Maurice R. Walker  was charged with two counts each of illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises and having a weapon under a disability and one count each of felonious assault with a firearm specification, tampering with evidence and violation of a protection order.

Zanesville Police Chief Kenneth Miller said around 12:30 Saturday morning officers were dispatched to the Angry Bull on Linden Avenue in reference to a subject refusing to leave the bar and that the subject had a gun in his pocket. 

While officers were enroute to the Angry Bull,Walker went to the Smiling Goat where he was asked to leave. Police said when he left, he fired one shot through the front door of the bar.

He was arrested later that morning at 724 Homewood Avenue and a gun was recovered at the residence.

He is currently being held in the Zanesville City Jail and his bond is set at $500,000.
