Community Ambulance’s Heat Runs Small

It seems as though people were prepared to handle Southeastern Ohio’s rising temperatures.

The 90-degree heat didn’t have Community Ambulance responding to very many people who succumbed to heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

“We’ve been keeping up with it. It hasn’t been too terribly busy. Fortunately, with the weekend here, people are taking it easy and aren’t working too hard, ” says Director of Operations, Phil Koster.

However, Koster says that number may pick up tomorrow.

“As we start the work week, for those construction workers outside-the pipeliners and those folks that are out in the middle of it-you know, in the field, the farmers. Encourage them just to keep an eye out for themselves. Just watch each other, make sure you get enough shade and some water. Again, don’t push yourself. If you feel tired, take a break. There’s no shame in that, ” says Koster.

Koster says you need to take it easy when you start feeling tired, dizzy, and excessively thirsty in the heat.
