Community Baby Shower

One local organization is asking people to change the world one little heartbeat at a time.

The Pregnancy Distress Center held its first community baby shower this afternoon to show the community what services it offers.

"We’ve been here for about 33 years, and I still hear every week someone say I didn’t even know you were here, " says Interim Director, Tess Davis.

Davis says she understands women sometimes have difficult choices to make and the center wants to help women during this emotional process.

"We just try to provide services to girls that are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy in the hope that they will choose life for their baby in one way or another. Hopefully, they will decide to either parent that child or place that child for adoption, " says Davis.

The center offers teaching materials on abstinence and parenthood, but it also provides gently-used resources to struggling moms, such as clothing, stollers, bibs, and cribs. By doing that, Davis says she hopes it will give moms the chance to save money for the necessities of baby food and diapers.
