Community Health Fair Kicks Off

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department kicked off their annual Community Health Fair at the Colony Square Mall Friday.

Local health organizations came together to offer free screenings, advice, and demonstrations to members of the community.

“There are free health screenings being provided by Rambo Memorial Health Center, free five minute massages being provided by Zanesville Medical Center,” said Public Information Officer at the ZMCHD Jennifer Hiestand.”We have free sampling of essential oils provided by doTERRA. There’s a distracted driving simulator here that teens can try to experience first-hand the dangers of distracted driving, and you can register to win a Fitbit or a youth bike here at the health department table.”

Hiestand said this weekend’s event aims to promote preventative healthcare.

“A lot of times health things aren’t on your to-do list and they may not always get done so it’s nice to get those free screenings out here to people who may otherwise not get a chance to do them,” said Hiestand.

The Health Fair will continue Saturday during mall hours, 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
