ZANESVILLE, OH- Muskingum County History is sharing more details about its upcoming home and business tour in the Putnam Historic District. The event highlights local landmarks and gives visitors a chance to learn about the neighborhood’s past.

The tour includes private homes, churches, museums and businesses, each offering a look at historic architecture and holiday décor. Organizers say the event is meant to give people an easy way to explore the area.

“We know this is a busy time of year and you may have other things going on so we gave a window of opportunity, the individuals who would like to participate should come to the Dr. Increase Matthews House on Woodlawn Avenue, or the Muskingum County History Archives building at 462 Putnam, either of those locations is where you can purchase your tickets, tickets are $5 dollars per adult and $2 dollars for children, those fees will help us offset costs involved with the event, as well as support operations with Muskingum County History,” said Muskingum County History Executive Director, Larisa Harper.

The tour runs 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13. After buying a ticket, visitors will receive a booklet about each stop.

“Once you pay your ticket, your admission, you’ll get a booklet of information about all of the locations that are participating, some have some really interesting background and history, some are in the process of being restored, there are a number of businesses that are participating, and they’re running specials, either special drinks or special food, or some other other special snacks, most of the private homes involved will have some sort of snack or food or drink, we’ll have music playing at different locations, we’ll have some children activities, and we will also have raffles, and door prizes,” said Harper.

Signs will mark all participating locations. More information is available through the Muskingum County History website and Facebook page.
