Community Shows Support of Heath Baseball Ahead of State Semifinal
NEWARK, OH
What may already be tradition for Heath athletics, t-shirts were made to help grow the already overwhelming support for the baseball team this postseason. Over a 24-hour period, 600 shirts were purchased, raising $3,000 to help upgrade aspects of Dave Klontz field over at the high school. Fans had the opportunity today to come and pick up their shirts and engage with the players on the team. Ahead of the biggest weekend for the team in nearly two decades, the Bulldogs are grateful for the community that has supported them from day one.
“It’s…it’s amazing, especially being here with all the guys right now, seeing everybody coming through these doors to get these shirts, it just shows. We got more than twice the amount of shirts sold than last year, and it’s really surreal for us. It shows that the community really loves Heath baseball.”
“The community of Heath has been this way as long as I’ve been in Heath. They backed when the girls won the state championship in volleyball and basketball back in ‘91. They were there. It continues. Baseball program’s very big, as you can see. These people coming in, a lot of coaches, a lot of kids.”
“I expect a big wave of orange in the stands, that’s all I know.”
