Congressman Seeks End to Shutdowns

An Ohio congressman is seeking to put an end to government shutdowns.
Congressman Troy Balderson (R-Ohio) introduced his first piece of legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives to end government shutdowns for good.
Congressman Balderson said that shutdowns put everyday Americans in peril of not receiving paychecks or accessing critical resources.
He said it’s congress job to make sure the government remains fully functional for all Americans.
The “End Government Shutdowns Act” would automatically trigger continued levels of discretionary funding for 120 days, if within those 120 days agreements have not been made a one percent cut in discretionary funding would take effect, that would continue every 90 days until appropriations have been made.
The “End Government Shutdowns Act” in the house is a companion to U.S. Sen. Rob Portman’s (R-OH) identical legislation.
