Coshocton County Community Holds Memorial 5K Glow Run

Memorial Glow Run

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – A Coshocton County community will be holding a 5K glow run to honor a fallen loved one.

42-year-old Brenda Hoffman was riding her bicycle with her triathlon partner on State Route 60 in April of last year when she was struck by a vehicle and killed. Now residents of West Lafayette have come together to establish a glow run to remember her.

“We wanted to do something that Brenda love to do,” said Amy Stonebraker who is the co-founder of the 5K. “All the proceeds are going to scholarships for students in the Ridgewood School District.”

The race is Aug. 6 and starts at Burt Park in West Lafayette and runs throughout the village. At last year’s inaugural run they were able to get 200 runners and raise two $1,000 dollars scholarships. The scholarships were given to students interested in the medical or agriculture field, two of Hoffman’s interests.

Stonebraker was an assistant cross-county coach Ridgewood High School and said she hopes this will honor Hoffman.

“She was a very spunky, outgoing, fearless person, that loved to do just about anything,” said Stonebraker. “And growing up she was an athlete that never gave up.”

Anyone who wants to register can do so the day of the 5K for $25 at Burt Park or by calling (740) 502-1549.
