County Commissioners Held an Open Bid Meeting for Former Help Me Grow Building

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The property located at 333 Putnam Ave still sits unoccupied and needing a future tenant.
The County commissioners held another bid opening today for the property which housed several health department agencies including the Help Me Grow program.
There was one bid that was submitted by the J.W. and M.H. Straker Charitable Foundation for 151,000, however, it was placed under advisement due to an environmental survey contingency that wasn’t addressed in the documents, according to Mollie Crooks, County commissioner president.
“Currently the commissioners took it under advisement and we’ve advised the bidder that, yes, they can either remove the contingency and the offer can be accepted or we could reject the bid if the contingency must still be attached,” Crooks stated.
During the meeting they discussed the concerns for asbestos, but said that may be un unlikely due to the recent renovations in 2011.
“When we put the building out to bid it was as is, where is so anything basically you’re buying, but what you see. There was an opportunity for someone to request additional inspections,” Crooks said. “We did offer tours for people prior to bidding we felt was very fair to everyone just to be transparent, answer any questions and we know several business and interested parties went through the building, and were able to view before bidding.”
The minimum bid asked for was $150,000. County Commissioners stated during the meeting that they will allow the foundation until next week to make a decision.
