The Courthouse will shine teal in honor of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Pcos Month

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Courthouse in downtown Zanesville will be shining teal on Sunday September 30th.

September is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome awareness month and a local woman battling with the diagnosis, Hayley DeVoll, hopes to shed some light on PCOS. The County Commissioners agreed to have the Courthouse lit up in teal.

“I knew nothing about PCOS when I was first diagnosed, so I would just like, you know, everybody to see it and think ‘well why is it teal,” explained DeVoll. “Spreading awareness means the world to me because I didn’t have that when I got diagnosed.”

DeVoll said 1 in 10 women are diagnosed with PCOS and some don’t even realize they have it. She just wants to make sure other women know they aren’t alone and have support behind them.

“Don’t give up hope,” said DeVoll. “You know, I never thought I could have a baby and I was able to get pregnant, granted we lost it, but that was my biggest hope in the whole world thinking I could never even have a baby. So don’t ever give up and don’t think you’re alone.”
