Crew Transfers Star Forward Diego Rossi to CF Monterrey

Rossi Still

COLUMBUS, OH – Nearly three years, two trophies, plenty of goals, and even more memories later, Diego Rossi bids farewell to Columbus.

The Crew announced an agreement on Friday with Mexican club CF Monterrey for reportedly up to eight million dollars in the transfer of the Uruguayan forward. Rossi arrived in Columbus in August of 2023, helping the club claim its third and most recent MLS cup. The 28-year old scored 37 goals and added 20 assists in 88 regular season matches from 2023 to 2026, adding two goals and three helpers in postseason play. He leaves the club as the leading scorer this season with six goals after finishing top of the team with 15 in 2025.

His contract was set to expire following the 2027 season with the Crew.

“Diego was an important part of the Crew’s success over the past three years” says general manager Issa Tall in a press release. “This is the right opportunity and time for Diego and our club. We wish him the best as he and his family embark on his new journey.”

Rossi will now play for the fifth different club in his professional career across four different countries, between his native Uruguay, Türkiye, the United States, and now Mexico.

He becomes the second player who the Crew have transferred out this season, joining Ukranian defender Yevhen Cheberko. The club has also transferred in Spanish midfielder Brais Méndez and American defender Brooks Lennon over the past number of weeks.
