ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Athletes from around Southeastern Ohio competed in the first CrossFit Contour Summer Bash Saturday afternoon.

Conveniently located right next to the Fiedhouse Center, spectators gathered around the outside field to cheer on their friends and family.

Director, Kendell Kane, said the idea of this event was to bring crossfit gyms together, and raise money for several local causes.

“We decided to do this first competition so that we could raise money for the gym, said Kane. We are actually going to give this money to one of our athletes who was in a really bad car accident a couple of months ago. We are also going to donate proceeds to the Zanesville Fire Department, so that they can set up a gym or start to get equipment for a gym.”

40 athletes competed in the team competition, which was divided into three parts with a scaled division and Rx division.

Kane said the crossfit community is like no other.

“Crossfit is a big giant community. You can go from one box to another. Everyone knows each other, and everyone knows what the standards are. It’s just one big community that everyone really works well together no matter what.”
