ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local family-owned business in Zanesville celebrated 50 years on Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Custom Vehicles of Zanesville, located at 3619 Olde Falls Road, was founded in 1976 by Darryl Mast when he was 16 years old. Mast wanted to customize vans and the business grew to other vehicles and services.

“Started in my mom and dad’s two-car garage in ’76, in ’81 we built the first concrete block building, in ’85 we added another building and mini storages and we added on back in 2001. And so, it just kept growing from year to year to year,” Mast said. “There’s always something new you had to add to the business because there was always new and upcoming things coming out.”

Olivia (PRIZ-BULL)Pryzbyl is Mast’s daughter and the future owner of Custom Vehicles of Zanesville. She says the family is grateful for the community support and the fond memories attached to the business and looks forward to seeing the business continue to support the community and her family.

“It’s amazing. It feels great to be a part of the community. We enjoy being a part of it. It’s fun to hear all the stories of people who have come out and say ‘we remember coming out here when your dad started at 16’ and having their van done,” Pryzbyl said. “I can remember being just like my children here, growing up and you know now I’ve moved away, I’ve come back home and now I’m here and we’re celebrating 50 years and we hope that, we’re second generation and hope that we’ll eventually be a third generation business too. ”

The Zanesville-Muskingum Chamber of Commerce visited Custom Vehicles of Zanesville to cut the ribbon and congratulate them on 50 years in business. You can learn more about Custom Vehicles of Zanesville by visiting their website.
