Cut For a Cure

Cut For a Cure took over a hair styling salon in the Colony Square Mall Sunday.

The hair salon inside Elder-Beerman held the event as part of a national campaign by The Bon-ton Stores INC. The company owns Elder-Beerman and has this event each year to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Hairstylist, Jemma Meighen said that she hopes people come out to support the cause.

"The more money that we raise for it the more research can be done," Meighen said. "That way other families don’t have to deal with the stress of, they have cancer, they’re going to die."

All profits from the hair styling salon in Elder-Beerman Sunday will go directly to breast cancer research. Meighen especially wants to help with this cause because she has been personally affected by this disease.

"Yes, my great aunt is a breast cancer survivor," Meighen said. "And it makes me feel awesome to be able to help with a cause like this. That way other families can have the chance for their family members or themselves to be survivors of breast cancer."

The Bon-Ton Stores INC. has raised over $100,000 through the campaign over the past 6 years, and, although this is a national campaign all money raised locally will stay in the area.
