Cynthia Ellen Flowers, 64, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on April 27th, 2026, at Genesis Hospice Care (Morrison House) in Zanesville due to chronic kidney disease. She was born June 1, 1961, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Harry L. Flowers and Martha E. (Young) Flowers.
Cyndie attended Zane State College and obtained an associate degree in Culinary Arts. She also earned an associate degree from MATC in Child Development. Cyndie was a graduate of West Muskingum High School class of 1979.
Cyndie was a devoted mother to Ashley Drake and Michel Drake, her biggest blessings in life. She took special joy in cooking, baking and crocheting. Cyndie enjoyed volunteering with the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, teaching bible school at Market Street Baptist and baking for any fundraising activity throughout the years. She did in home daycare for many years and helped to shape the lives of dozens of children.
Cyndie is survived by her children, sister Jane (Todd) Osborne, niece Brittany (Michael) Mayle, great nephew Grayson Marcinko and great niece Hadlee Mayle and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, Cyndie is preceded in death by her daughter Mishelle Drake; sister, Karen Flowers; nephew, Ryan Osborne; and aunt, Ann Huntsman.
Cyndie had an eye disease that caused her to be legally blind for almost her entire life. It was her wish to donate her eyes for research/educational purposes to help to understand the cause of this debilitating disease and to help come up with a cure or treatment to help others who may develop the same condition. She was able to donate her eyes to Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute and make this wish become a reality.
Cyndie was loved by many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service to honor Cyndie and celebrate her life will be held at 2 PM, June 1, 2026, at Market Street Baptist Church 140 North 6th Street Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
Per Cyndie’s wishes, a dignified cremation has been entrusted to Delong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home.
