Cynthia “Cindy” Hammersley, 90 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at the Adams Lane Care Center in Zanesville.
She was born on June 14, 1935, in Coshocton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Waldo Emerson Chubb and Twila A. (Hughes) Chubb. Cindy was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Zanesville. In her free time, she enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She had a passion for gardening, often filling her flowers bed and numerous pots with beautiful blooms. She also loved painting, sewing, flower shows, and exploring new places. She was a Longaberger Basket consultant and collector. Alongside her best friend, Betty and her husband Bob, she traveled to many different countries. Additionally, she found great joy in discussing God and the Bible with others.
Cindy is survived by her son, Mark (Jennifer) Hammersley; grandchildren, Jasmin Mayse, Abigail (Reisce Barnes) Hammersley, Lacey (Brian Donnelly) Hammersley, Kenton (Vanessa Antivero) Hammersley, Ryan (Alexandria) Hammersley; additional grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Hammersley; daughter, Deborah Mayse; brother, Forrest Chubb; sister, Rosalie Eberts; infant brother, Ronald Dale Chubb; and special friend, Elizabeth “Betty” Zimmerman.
A dignified cremation has been entrusted to DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home following services. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 1, 2025, at 1:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Pine Street in Zanesville with Allan May officiating.
