Daniel Miller

Daniel Craig Miller, 76, of White Cottage, Ohio, passed away Tuesday March 11, 2025 at The Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio with his wife by his side. He was born on December 20, 1948 in Zanesville, a son of the late Donald Sr. and Iva Miller of South Zanesville, Ohio. He was a graduate of Maysville High School class of 1966. Dan received a basketball scholarship and played college basketball in Iowa for two years before enlisting in the United States Navy serving during Vietnam. After serving six years in the Navy, he came back to Zanesville working as a brick mason for Donnie Schultheis before starting his own business. He was the owner and founder of South End Tool & Equipment Rental and Miller Power Equipment until his retirement in 2011. He was a life time member of VFW Post #1058 in Zanesville, member of the American Legion, member of Am Vets in Thornville, member of Muskingum Lodge #368 in Fultonham, life member of National Sporting Clays Association, National Wild Turkey Federation and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Dan had a lifelong passion for hunting, especially in Craig, Colorado for elk, antelope, and mule deer, in Saskatchewan Canada for caribou and bear, and at his farm near Fultonham, Ohio for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and coyotes. He made many lifelong friends during these hunting trips and left quite an impression on them with his numerous jokes and stories. Dan excelled in shooting, especially sporting clays and started Highfield Sporting Clays at his farm where he held Ohio’s state competition for two years. Surviving are his wife Christine A. Miller of White Cottage. Three brothers Donald Jr., Richard “Dick”, and Dean Miller. One son Shiloh Miller and his fiance Rachel Rupe and her son Landon of White Cottage, Ohio, one daughter Crystal Loveridge of Illinois and her fiance Marty Spring of Thornville, Ohio. Four grandchildren Caitlyn and Maggie Loveridge, Libby and Lainey Miller, two step-children Chad Baker and his companion Ashley Armann of Malaga, Ohio and Cody (Josh) Booher of Devola, Ohio. Six step-grandchildren Brayden, Brantley, and Brissa Baker, Harper, Sadie, and Jack Booher. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday March 14, 2025 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage with Muskingum Lodge holding Masonic services at 7:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday March 15, 2025 with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father David L. Huffman at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Wesley Union Cemetery in White Cottage where Dan will be laid to rest with full military honors provided by George Selsam VFW Post #1058 and the United States Navy. Dan was an avid turkey hunter and passionate about passing down the hunting tradition to the youth.
