David Eugene Stoneburner, 85, died Sunday, August 2, 2015. He was born September 24, 1929, in Oakfield, Perry County, Ohio to the late Vernon and Gladys (Wolfe) Stoneburner.
After retiring from Columbia Cement Corporation with 34 years of service in 1984, David worked at Ritchey Produce and Six County, Inc.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict in the 311th Graves Registration Company in Germany. He was a graduate of 7th Army Noncommissioned Officers Academy.
David was a 58 year member of Peerless #59I Masonic Lodge Crooksville, Amrou Grotto #45, Scottish Rites Valley of Cambridge, Perry County Scottish Rites Club and VFW Post #1058.
He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Zanesville and Pair & Spares Class, past president of Zanes & Janes Western Square Dance Club, Wagon Master for Country Campers Square Dance Club and inducted into Perry County Baseball Hall of Fame.
David loved to travel, visiting 46 of the 50 states and most European countries. He and his wife spent the last 15 winters in RV resorts in either So. Texas or Florida.
He was very proud of his family and their accomplishments.
Surviving are his loving wife, Sharon Ann Stoneburner (Porter) and his three sons: Thomas Eugene (Gayle) Stoneburner of Hendersonville, TN, Joseph Paul (Barbara) Stoneburner of Zanesville and Michael Dean (Sharon) of Marion, OH. Grandchildren: Craig E. (MaRecia) Stoneburner of Lexington, KY, Steven P. (Katie) Stoneburner of Zanesville, Lisa A. Tatum of Hendersonville, V. Scott (Leigh Ann) Stonebumer of Charleston, SC, Stephanie J. (Micah) Fuchs of Beallsville, OH, Sean David (Tabitha) Stoneburner of Bellevue, OH, Christopher and Aaron Stoneburner of Marion and Laylonnie Stoneburner of Nashville, TN. Great grandchildren: Kendal, Cadence, Spencer, Kyle, Sydney, Winston, Andrew, Alden, Madelyn, Sullivan, Sawyer, Lydia, Luke and Lincoln.
Two step-sons: Steve (Wendy) Ashby and Greg (Kelly) Ashby of Zanesville. Step grandchildren: Jordan of Columbus, Andrew, Madison, Aaron and Benjamin Ashby of Zanesville. His sister-in-law, Rebecca (Jim) Guthrie of Chester, VA.
Also surviving are two sisters, Norma Rambo and Nola (Fred) Baker; one brother, Carl Stoneburner (Marlene) and many, many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death is brother-in-law, Russell Rambo; mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Donna Porter and sister-in-law, Linda Porterfield.
Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8pm on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 and one hour prior to services at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE with Masonic Services at 8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, August 6, 2015, in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Mark Combs officiating. Burial will follow Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Full Military Graveside Rites conducted by George Selsam American Legion Post 1058.
