David “Dave” Frederick Frick Sr., 76, of Zanesville passed at 4:15 AM Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Newark, Ohio following an eight-year courageous battle against Parkinsonism from Agent Orange.

He was born on Tuesday, October 19, 1948, in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late Frederick Julius Frick and Kathryn Gillogly Frick.

Dave was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Commendation Medal, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart.

He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church where he was an elder for many years. He was the owner and operator of Olde Towne Cleaners in Zanesville from 1970 until its closing in January of 2025. He was an avid car enthusiast and was often seen around town in his butternut yellow 1968 Camero RS. Dave was a member of the VFW Local Post 1058, Muskingum County Veterans Appreciation Association and was a member and past treasurer of the Soldiers and Sailors Monumental Association. Dave also enjoyed spending time with his family and especially helping his wife with setting up and supporting her with her craft shows.

Dave is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Elva Jean Stiers Frick whom he married on August 28, 1971; his two sons; Matthew “Matt” David (Jennifer) Frick and David “DJ” (Melanie “Mel”) Frederick Frick Jr.; grandchildren, Tyler Thomas Edwards-Frick, Alysa Jane Edwards-Frick, Landan David Frick, Gauge Wyatt Frick, Xander Halkovics, Gavin Halkovics and Indy (Carson) Evans, Dustan McDew; 3 great grandsons, McCoy Edwards-Frick, Talyn Edwards-Frick and Rowdy Ryatt Edwards-Frick; sisters, Diane Bunker, Jean (Grant) Kearns and Helen Shoemaker; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including Kim New who managed the cleaners for many years.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by a son, Chad Michael Frick; and two brothers-in-law, Dan Shoemaker and Duane Bunker.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home where funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 7:00 PM with Rev. Larry Kudart officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made in Dave’s honor to the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Muskingum County Veterans Appreciation Association or to the St. Jude Foundation.
